Brava! Alex Pangman, “Canada’s Sweetheart of Swing,” gave an incredible performance to start the season of concerts from the South Coast Jazz Festival. Alex Pangman and The Alleycats followed local artists “Sharp Dogs” who kicked off the day at Burning Kiln Winery.

Alex's vocal artistry interpreting music from the 30’s and 40’s quickly had audience members on their feet – literally. Initial applause was followed by spontaneous dancing that broke out among attendees, and the audience loved it.

South Coast Jazz Festival Founder Juliann Kuchocki told us: “This went extremely well and we’re so excited. Alex did a great job and I want to thank everyone for coming and I want to thank all of the sponsors – including snapd Haldimand-Norfolk. The weather was perfect. We had 3 radio stations there and wish to offer special thanks to Southwestern Ontario Tourism Corporation, Erie Music, Easy 101 and TD. Alex Pangman was perfect for opening the season. I had heard Sharp Dogs last year and had them in my mind in particular because they’re from Norfolk County and they upped their game and did an exceptional job.”

The main concert is July 23rd and features David Sanborn with the Galen Weston Band. The best reserved seats are only available until July 5th. After that, there is no reserved seating. Visit: www.SouthCoastJazz.com.

Expansion of South Coast Jazz 2016

https://haldimandnorfolk.snapd.com/event/905530#

This past year’s South Coast Jazz Festival was a resounding success. SCJ would like to thank everyone involved

It started with a soft launch of a single event two years ago and doubled to two events during 2015, including a major full-day jazz extravaganza that took over the Port Dover Arena. The evening featured Holly Cole, and she performed to a sold out arena.

The Festival has also been a major draw for tourism. Accommodations for people attending the Festival were up 900% in 2015 and were accompanied by a 925% increase in online ticket sales. Juliann said “We had attendees from 24 cities outside of our area with 4 provinces represented. Bus tours will again be coming in from Toronto, London and Brantford. Our Jazzin’ Juniors Program featured performers from Simcoe Composite School as well as Humber and Mohawk Colleges.”

Various 2016 events are already planned, with the return of the full day Festival at the Port Dover arena plus other events in participating. Burning Kiln and Frisky Beaver are on the agenda, and we will be sharing the announcements on Facebook as well as in the snapd Haldimand-Norfolk Calendar of Events. A presentation of $10,000 from TD Bank was made as part of the outlining of the new schedule.

Applications and information for submissions and Local Artist auditions can be found at www.SouthCoastJazz.com under submissions
